Michael L. Knight Jr. is of counsel with the Montano Law Firm PLLC and has more than 20 years of experience licensed as an attorney and counselor at law in the State of Texas. Mr. Knight graduated in 1993 from the Honors College of the University of Houston and was named a 1993 Social Science Scholar. In 1996, Mr. Knight earned his Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
Mr. Knight primarily practices in the areas of family and criminal law, but he also has experience handling various legal civil matters for both businesses and individuals. Mr. Knight’s criminal law experience includes handling hundreds of felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile plea negotiations, hearings, and trials by jury.
In family law, Mr. Knight has experience in numerous family law trials and hearings. He has handled divorces, motions to modify custody and/or child support, and child support enforcement.
In other civil matters, Mr. Knight has experience in consumer bankruptcy and debt negotiation. Moreover, Mr. Knight previously served as a general counsel for a retirement plan consulting and administration firm where he was responsible for ERISA compliance. Mr. Knight’s activities included guiding clients through IRS and DOL audits, voluntary compliance submissions, and individual DOL exemptions. Mr. Knight also worked in areas of corporate formation and management.
